One of the areas that the Australian Tax Office (ATO) is going to focus on this year is Rental Property Tax Returns after an initial Audit program this year found 90% of rental property tax returns were wrong! Yes that’s right 90% wrong.
One of the things I really enjoy is preparing rental property tax returns for just this reason. While fundamentally a fairly simple task they are quite often done wrong by previous Accountants And/or I can pick up things that are missing on the return.
